Iran began their AFC Futsal Championship 2018 Qualifiers in spectacular fashion in Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Province, on Sunday.
Futsal powerhouse Iran kicked off the road to the 2018 tournament with a 8-2 win over Afghanistan.
According to the-afc.com, Iran’s Mahdi Javid scored in the second minute, before Ali Hassanzadeh scored two in quick succession, in the fifth and seventh minutes to make it 3-0.
Afghanistan showed signs of life after Akbar Kazemi put his side on the scoreboard, but it did not distract Mohammad Nazem Alsharie’s team from maintaining their dominance as Shahab Taleb, Javid and Saeid Ahmad Abbasi gave Iran a comfortable lead going into the break.
Hussain Khademi’s shot found the back of the net a minute into the second-half, and back to back goals by Javid and Hassanzadeh to complete their hat-tricks in the 28th and 29th minutes respectively, ensured Iran started in rampant fashion.
Iran holds a record of 11 championship titles.
