The government and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development have pledged to complete the Mehr Housing Project by July 2018, the spokesman for the civil-affairs commission of the parliament announced. “The number of residential units constructed as part of the project, which are currently vacant and without owners, is significantly low,” Sodeif Badri also told ICANA, the official news portal of the parliament. The controversial Mehr Housing Project, which was launched in the previous administration and aimed to promote mass construction of residential units, has been repeatedly prolonged. The scheme, which has been bashed by the MRUD minister and others as an inefficient project, has proved to be a nuisance for the current administration.
