In a press release on Monday, the foreign ministry congratulated the Tunisian nation on the successful conduct of the second round of the presidential election in the North African country and described the “establishment of democratic process” in the country as a great achievement for the Tunisian revolution. Beji Caid Essebsi won Tunisia’s first free presidential election in the final step of a transition to democracy after an uprising that ousted autocrat Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.
