Farshchian’s New Works

At a ceremony held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall to honor master of Persian painting and miniatures Mahmoud Farshchian on Sept. 21, his latest paintings published in three books and a CD were unveiled.

The books are a new reprint of Divan-e Hafez (collection of poems by the celebrated 14th Persian poet Hafez) with the script of Iranian calligrapher Rasoul Moradi, a new reprint of Khayyam quatrains (poems of medieval Persian mathematician-poet Omar Khayyam) with the script of calligrapher Amir Ahmad Falsafi, a calligraphy book by renowned calligrapher Esrafil Shirchi; the multimedia CD titled ‘Treasury of Iran’s Art and Culture Masterpieces’ include a research and movie about Farshchian by Amir Sabouri, IRNA reported.

Farshchian, 86, was born in Isfahan and learned art, painting and sculpting. His powerful and innovative paintings are dynamic, expansive and vibrant with an appealing fusion of tradition and modernity that indeed are constituents of his unique style.

His masterpieces have been hosted by several museums and exhibitions worldwide. He is seen as a modernizer in the field of miniature, an art form which was first established in ancient Persia and later spread to China and Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries.
