An earthquake measuring 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale shook Hojdak city in Ravar County of southeastern Kerman Province at 22:58 pm on Thursday. No casualties were reported.
The quake came as an aftershock of a magnitude-5 earthquake that had struck the area a day earlier, iribnews.ir reported
“Most of residential units in the region had been renovated before the quake struck. However the tremor has caused deep cracks in some old buildings,” head of the IRCS provincial office, Reza Fallah, said.
According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor was registered at a depth of 10 kilometers. Iranian Red Crescent Society sent two rescue and relief teams to the region.
