Three Appointments at DOE

Isa Kalantari, the head of the Department of Environment, has designated three deputies early this week.

As reported by Mehr News Agency, Saeid Motessaddi, who previously served as the deputy for human environment at DOE, was appointed technical advisor in a ceremony held in Tehran.

Motessaddi holds a PhD in environment health engineering. He has also overseen several international and domestic projects in the field of environment management and has published several books and articles in the field.

He had earlier served as member of the Environment Committee of Tehran City Council, director of DOE's Comprehensive Monitoring Office and chairman of climate change convention at the National Committee of Sustainable Development.

At the meeting, Habibollah Bourbour, the former head of Iran's Society of Philanthropists, was appointed senior advisor to the head of DOE on philanthropist affairs.

Bourbour had been the director of Organization for Development, Renovation and Equipping Schools of Iran and deputy for civil affairs at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Kalantari also selected Kaveh Madani as deputy for social, international, technology and training affairs, which is a new title for the old position of deputy for research and training.

"The modifications in the title illustrate changes in the authority's range of duties," Kalantari said.

Madani holds a post-PhD degree in economy and environment policy at the University of California Riverside. The young graduate was among the top ten civil engineering elites named in 2012 by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Kalantari hoped that the new assignments would help make noticeable improvement in the country's environmental conditions.
