Helping the Disabled

The State Welfare Organization has allocated 230 billion rials ($6 million) in the current fiscal year (started in March) for implementing programs to improve accessibility for people with physical disabilities. As part of the program, homes and vehicles of 11,500 disabled people will be retrofitted to make them accessible, SWO deputy for rehabilitation Hossein Nahvinejad said, ISNA reported. Accessibility refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people who have disabilities. The SWO says it is trying to extend the program to more disabled people in the coming years.
