A prominent pro-reform figure has asked students to spearhead the campaigns for the next parliamentary election in 2016. In a meeting with representatives of student groups from Islamic Azad and state universities in Tehran on Thursday, former first vice president Mohammad Reza Aref said students should not be “indifferent to political affairs” and should “play an active role” in the election to help competent representatives enter the Majlis, IRNA reported. “The next Majlis should include experts so that it can help resolve the country’s problems.”
