Bank Melli Iran’s branch has started operations in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf Al-Ashraf, the lender’s chief executive said. “In line with expanding our foreign operations and services, and owing to the importance of facilitating services to our pilgrims, BMI’s branch in Najaf Al-Ashraf has experimentally begun work and its official expansion of activities will start in the foreseeable future,” Mohammad Reza Hosseinzadeh was also quoted as saying by the bank’s official website. Noting that BMI–the nation’s biggest lender–aims to expand its activities in Iraq and will announce other related news soon, Hosseinzadeh said pilgrims and businessmen of both countries can now use the services offered by the bank’s Najaf branch.
