Ten people among the 100 people infected with the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever this year have died, deputy minister of health, Alireza Raeesi, said on Saturday. “The death toll is more or less similar to the figures in the past few years,” IRNA quoted him as saying. Raeesi advised people to check the veterinary seal of approval on the meat before making any purchases and refrigerate meat products for 24 hours before use. The CCHF virus causes severe viral hemorrhagic fever outbreaks and has fatality rate of up to 40%. The virus is primarily transmitted to people from ticks and livestock animals. It is most common during the hot seasons.
