Morris Garages (MG) now owned by SAIC, will launch two new cars initially in the Chinese market later this year. The company is reportedly releasing one so-called ‘fastback’ a kind of cross between a hatchback and a sedan, as well as new sedan model, according to a report Monday in Car News China. The two new models will work on the existing platform currently sold as the Roewe i6 which was launched earlier this year. China’s Roewe i6, is one of the best looking sedans produced by the firm so far. Price starts at 89,800 yuan ($13,400). Engines include 125hp 1.3 three-cylinder and a 169hp 1.5 turbo. There is also a hybrid, called the ie6, which has a combined output of 205hp. The company has also made inroads recently in the Iranian market, in the form of a joint venture with an Iran Khodro subsidiary in Tabriz. It has not yet released the price of their first jointly-produced vehicle, the MG360. Earlier reports put that vehicle in at over 620 million rials ($16,500).
