Five blood transfusion centers are currently under construction in four districts in Tehran (districts 1, 4, 5 and 20). All the projects are funded through donations, said Fardin Balouchi, secretary of the Iran Blood Transfusion Organization’s Charity Foundation. “The center in District 5 will opened by the end of summer,” he said, adding that the other centers will be inaugurated in the second half of the current year (ends March 2018), IRNA reported. The World Health Organization refers to philanthropists as important funders of healthcare, particularly in the developing countries where they can help address unmet needs in the national health system.
