Local Production of Hyundai Accent

Kerman Motor, local partner of Korea’s Hyundai has started production of the Accent sedan.

The company previously started production lines of the Hyundai i10 and i20 which are assembled from completely knocked down units, local automotive website Asbe Bokhar reported.

According to the report , the locally assembled Accent will come at 950 million rials ($25,000).

The model is already available in the country’s imported auto market and sells for 1.1 billion rials ($29,500) price tag. In other countries the car does not fetch more than  $15,000.

Hyundai has branded Accent as “decent basic transportation with a whiff of sportiness” and the model delivers what is promised. Available as a four-door sedan, its 137-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder pairs with either a perky six-speed manual or a sluggish six-speed automatic. Hyundai also has an import partner which imports the Tucson and the Sante Fe SUVs, two of the popular imported large cars.
