About 12 trillion rials ($315 million) worth of loans have been earmarked for the expansion of cage fish farming in the current Iranian year (March 2017-18), the deputy head of Iran Fisheries Organization, Seifollah Haqiqi, said.
“Last year, more than 20 million fingerlings were bred through this method,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Cage fish farming is a relatively new method in Iran, wherein cages are placed in lakes, ponds, rivers or seas to breed fish until they can be harvested.
