The first phase of one of Iran’s biggest cage fish farming projects was launched during a ceremony in Bushehr Province on Saturday.
“Around 966 billion rials (close to $25.6 million) worth of investments have gone into the project that has created 186 jobs. The unit has the capacity to produce 25 million fingerlings and 6,000 tons of fish annually,” Deputy Agriculture Minister Hassan Salehi, who is also the head of Iran Fisheries Organization, was quoted as saying by ILNA.
Three phases have been defined for the project, the first of which, a fish culture unit, was launched during this ceremony. Two other phases, including processing and packaging units, will be launched in the future.
Bushehr is a province in southern Iran with a long coastline along the Persian Gulf.
