This year’s Arba’een showed the unbreakable bond of people with the infallible Imams, said Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, on Saturday night (Dec. 13) at a mourning ceremony in Lamerd, Fars Province.
“The march of millions of people toward Karbala, Iraq, to gather there on the occasion of Arba’een, the 20th day of the lunar month of Safar, is a clear sign of their sincere devotion to the sacred realm of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), the Household of the Prophet,” IRNA quoted Jannati as saying.
Calling it the biggest Shia assembly in the Muslim world, the minister noted that the historic event in Karbala was a symbol of innocence of Imam Hussein (AS) and the path of truth he had chosen.
The presence of millions of people suggests that even after more than 1300 years since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his 72 companions at the Battle of Karbala, the number of enthusiasts to this epic movement is on the rise all over the world.
