To encourage milk consumption in the country, the government has commenced distribution of free milk in schools, President Hassan Rouhani said in Iran Dairy Product Company on Friday, IRNA reported. In a bid to spur dairy consumption, the administration must back dairy industry by allocating required financial resources and subsidies, he highlighted.
Spokesman for Tehran’s department of education, Masoud Saghafi, had earlier told ISNA that the plan requires $11.6 million in finance, part of which has already been provided. All primary and junior high schools as well as pre-schools and orphanages are included in the milk distribution program and the distributing company will be selected through a tender process.
