Iran's Arya Sasol Company has achieved two five-star grading from the British Safety Council, one of the world's leading health and safety organizations.

After conducting detailed audit over the safety, management and control systems of Arya Sasol Company in five sections, the BSC awarded Arya Sasol with a five-star certificate in occupational health and safety as well as a five-star certificate in environment for 2017, the company's news portal reported.

Arya Sasol has become the first Iranian firm operating in the petroleum and petrochemical industries to achieve the top certificates from BSC.

Amirhossein Bahreini, managing director of Arya Sasol Company, said the London-based council was chosen for HSE certifications of Arya Sasol because of its global reputation as well as extensive operations in over 50 countries.

"Prior to Arya Sasol, some of the world's biggest oil companies have managed to achieve the BSC five-star grading, including BP, Royal Dutch Shell and Foster Wheeler," Bahreini said.

With a workforce of more than 900 employees, Arya Sasol has an annual production capacity of 1.6 million tons of ethylene and polyethylene with high, medium and low density and exports nearly 90% of its output.

It has been recognized as one of the leading petrochemical companies in the Middle East in terms of promoting health, safety and environment standards.

Arya Sasol also ranked first in terms of profit/sale among Iran’s top petrochemical companies in the IMI-100 rating in the fiscal 2016-17 that ended on March 20.

IMI-100 is an annual list of Iran's biggest corporations compiled by the Industrial Management Institute of Iran.
