Housing for Disabled

A total of 11,500 families with more than two physically challenged members have been listed for special housing for the disabled, of whom 32% are rural families and 68% urban dwellers.

“Residential units will be handed over to all the identified households by the end of the next fiscal year in March 2019,” said Anoushiravan Mohseni Bandpei, head of State Welfare Organization (SWO), on Thursday, IRNA reported.  He added that 43,000 residential units are also under construction for households with a disabled member. Earlier in June, he announced that housing has been provided to 2,900 households with more than two disabled members so far. In July 2015, Mostazafan Foundation (for the oppressed and disabled founded in 1979 as per a decree by Imam Khomeini) signed a memorandum of understanding with the SWO to provide housing to families with differently-able members.
