The governor of Tehran has asserted that no case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) has so far been found in the province.
Speaking to ISNA, Isa Farhadi said that all slaughterhouses across the capital as well as in the counties of Tehran Province are constantly monitored by the Health Ministry’s veterinary inspectors. CCHF is a zoonotic disease caused by a tick-borne virus. It often breaks out in warm seasons.
Since the beginning of the current year in March, 38 people have been infected with CCHF and 3 lost their lives to the disease. People are urged to check the Iranian Veterinary Organization’s seal of approval on meat products before making purchases, and to keep them in the fridge for 24 hours before use. People working in slaughterhouses are advised to use masks, gloves, and boots, as a precautionary measure.
