Based on the 2016 population and housing census, the largest population in Iran among all age groups, is in the 30-34 age groups. Data shows that there are about 8.6 million people in this age group as a result of the high population growth in the 1980s, IRNA reported. Iran’s population is 79.9 million currently, of which 59 million live in urban and 20.7 million live in rural areas. The population growth rate now stands at 1.24 and the average family size is 3.3 people.
