The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization is organizing a forum in Tehran on Monday to survey opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Latin American countries in the mining sector. Representatives of most Latin American countries, including Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Mexico, are attending the event.
IMIDRO is Iran’s largest holding in the mining sector affiliated to the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.
IMIDRO President Mehdi Karbasian will be among the keynote speakers, elaborating on the Iranian mining sector’s investment opportunities, IMIDRO reported on its website. Iran is home to 68 types of minerals with over 37 billion tons of proven and 57 billion tons of potential reserves, including large deposits of coal, iron ore, copper, lead, zinc, chromium, uranium and gold.
