More than 5.81 million tons of agricultural products worth close to $5.69 billion were exported from Iran in the last fiscal year that ended on March 20, registering a 21.8% and 3.6% growth in weight and value respectively compared with the previous year, a deputy agriculture minister said. “Agro products accounted for 4.5% of the tonnage and 13% of the value of Iran’s total non-oil exports last year. Farmed products made up 63.5% and 47.5% of the volume and value respectively and had the biggest share of the exported agro products. Horticultural, livestock and poultry products followed,” Abdolmehdi Bakhshandeh was also quoted by IRNA as saying. Pistachio and tomato paste had the largest share of exports in terms of value. Bakhshandeh added that the import of agricultural products decreased by 5.9% and 1.1% in terms of weight and value respectively last year.
