Farahani’s Paintings in Tehran After 25 Years

An exhibition of paintings by Iranian artist Hadi Farahani will open at Golestan Gallery in Tehran on May 5.

Titled ‘Outer Façade, Inner Essence’, the exhibit displays the Toronto-based artist’s latest series of paintings after 25 years, Honaronline reported.

He had held several solo exhibitions at Golestan Gallery and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art over two decades ago.

Born in Tehran, Farahani, 49, started his career by drawing illustrations for Soroush Magazine. As a cartoonist and illustrator for the magazine, he created a certain approach to the subjects he undertook, trying to find humor even in the dullest of articles.

After he left Iran for Canada in 1992, he expanded his activities. His cartoons have appeared in over 60 international publications including The Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, The New York Sun and The Los Angeles Times.

Farahani has won several awards in Canada, Iran and Italy. Thrice he has been nominated for the best magazine illustrator of the year by The National Cartoonists’ Society in the US.

Enthusiasts can visit the works on display at Gollestan Gallery at No 34., Shahid Kamasai Ave. Darouss neighborhood, until May 10.
