The 2017 Maruti Suzuki DZire is dropping the Swift prefix and will now be marketed simply as the ‘DZire’ in the Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan markets, according a report from Colombo. The small sedan now gets new projector headlights, hexagonal grille, LED tail lamps and a new shape for the bumper, according to Mid Day daily. Engine options remain the same as on the outgoing Swift — 1.2-liteer K-series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS turbo-diesel units in those markets. It is the first Maruti to get a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel along with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Top-spec models get reverse camera, keyless entry and a start/stop button. ABS with EBD and dual airbags are standard along with pre-tensioner-equipped seat belts. Maruti has withheld the price so far and the car is set to be launched on May 16. The car is unlikely to make it to Iran as Maruti has shown no interest in entering the left-hand drive vehicle market.
