Iran’s envoy to Kuwait stressed Tehran’s willingness to hold talks and enhance ties with members of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council.

“Iranian officials welcome holding consultations with Persian Gulf Arab states,” Alireza Enayati also told reporters in Kuwait City, Fars News Agency reported. He referred to the recent message by the Kuwaiti emir on dialogue with Iran and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Kuwait in February and said the two sides need to continue sending further messages and making more visits as they are highly important for the region and that it takes some time to witness the positive impacts of such moves.

“The only way to overcome problems is talks between Iran and the [P]GCC,” Enayati underlined. In related remarks in March, Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said Iran is eager to develop relations and cooperation with Persian Gulf Arab states.

“The Kuwaiti emir’s envoy had earlier come to Iran and said that the Persian Gulf littoral states intend to improve ties with Iran, and Iran’s position is also clear in this regard and we have always been interested in peace and stability with the neighboring states,” he said.
