Movie ticket prices will not rise in the new year (March 2017-18), said the head of Screening Guild Council, Homayoun Asadian. “Floating ticket prices will be piloted for screening some movies at grand cinemas in uptown neighborhoods,” the Persian daily Jam-e Jam quoted him as saying. “Movie theater owners and producers will agree on ticket prices ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rials ($2.6-$5.2) on a weekly basis. These prices will be charged for a handful of movies.” Most movie theaters across the world offer variations in ticket prices, taking into account the types of ticket, peak and off-peak screenings, weekend or weekday prices, costs for online and in-cinema purchases and extra charges for 3D films.
