Iranian handicraft exports are estimated to reach $200 million by the end of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2017), according to the secretary of Handicraft Exporters Union. “If we include suitcase trade, the figure will increase to two to three times as much,” Majid Reza Hariri was also quoted as saying by the Persian economic daily Tafahom. Iran’s handicraft exports last year (March 2015-16) amounted to $174 million, registering a 13% increase compared with the corresponding figure of last year.
