Lorestan is one province in the country which rattles at least once a day. The province in Zagros Mountains region straddles several faultlines and is prone to earthquake, said Reza Aryayi, director general of the provincial Crisis Management Organization.
From the beginning of this year till now, about 278 tremors have been registered, with 17 measuring above 3 on the Richter scale, Mehr news agency reported.
“The locals fearing a major earthquake are retrofitting their homes and the Housing Foundation is paying for reconstruction of rural housing units,” he added.
