Jobless Plasco Workers Get Insurance

Since January 19 when Tehran’s oldest high-rise, Plasco Building crumbled to dust, over 1,300 workers of the commercial center have visited the Social Security Organization to claim unemployment insurance. “Out of the number, about 500 were eligible and have received insurance,” said Nahid Heydari, director general of SSO west Tehran branch, its website reported. She also said tax evasion penalties for Plasco business owners will be waived, and other business owners who recruit them will receive SSO financial aid. The 17-floor tower caught fire and collapsed leaving 16 firefighters and four civilians dead.
