The executive secretary of the international conference on World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) said on Saturday that delegations from 44 countries have already announced that they will definitely attend the conference.
Speaking to the Tasnim news agency, Jamshid Parvizi said intellectuals and peace activists from the United States, the former prime ministers of Norway and France, former Turkish president Abdullah Gul and some members of the European Parliament will be among the participants.
He added that the foreign ministers of Nicaragua, Pakistan and Syria, the Iraqi deputy prime minister and minister of human rights, the deputy chairman of the foreign policy committee of the Irish Parliament, the Venezuelan deputy foreign minister and delegations from Germany, Hungary, Finland, Italy, the Philippines, South Korea, Ethiopia, Cuba, Algeria, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia and Kuwait have also been invited to participate in three panels on “Violence in Asia”, “Violence in Africa and the Middle East” and “Violence in America and Europe”.
He said consultations are underway to invite representatives from UNESCO and the United Nations.
The conference will be held on December 9-10 with the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.
