Iranian researchers have built a microwave power device and amplifier for radars and communication systems. Ali Agha Rasouli, a student at Iran University of Science and Technology, told Mehr News that the system designed by his team is the first of its kind in the world. “We managed to use a special method and parts with lower power to design and develop a device for amplifying microwave power.” He went on to add that the system enjoys a wide bandwidth, and a tolerance for high power. The microwave has been designed in the frequency range of 2.5 to 6 GHz. The system has four main parts including RF amplifiers, power couplers, a cooling system and a control and power feed section, he said. The project was awarded the third place at the 18th Khwarizmi Young International Award in 2016.
