Around 40,000 tons of eggs and 44,000 tons of chicken were exported from Iran over the eight months to November 21, 2016, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture said.
The exports were mainly made to Russia and Iran’s neighboring countries.
“Iran produces about 2.1 million tons of chicken and between 930,000 and 950,000 tons of eggs annually,” Habibollah Amini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Per capita chicken consumption in the country amounts to 25 kilograms. The figure stands at 10.5 kilograms for eggs, according to the official.
