Armenia’s export of lamb to Iran increased significantly over the past two months, the press service of Armenian Ministry of Agriculture said. As of December 2, 2016, lamb export to Iran amounted to 2,200 tons, up from 681 tons exported to Iran for the entire 2015, Arka news agency reported.
According to the ministry, more than 1,000 tons were exported after September 22.
These figures were announced during a meeting of Armenian Agriculture Minister Ignatiy Arakelyan with Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjadi on Friday.
The two sides discussed promotion of cooperation in the fields of animal husbandry, floriculture, development of greenhouses and fisheries. “At present, a group of Iranian experts from the province of Gilan are in Armenia to look into ways of expanding cooperation in the fields of fisheries, poultry, etc.”, the Armenian ministry said.
