The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has urged representatives at nuclear talks with the major powers to rely on the domestic potential and the might of the Iranian nation while negotiating with the West on the nuclear issue, saying the West’s pressure, which is now being exerted on the pretext of the country’s nuclear work, is meant to undermine the nation’s independence and resistance.
Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said, “Some people do not believe that the Iranian nation is under assault not because of its nuclear program but because they have always wanted to remain independent and because of their resistance against dominant powers.”
“The enemies have focused alls their resources on imposing pressure and economic sanctions in order to break the resistance of the Iranian nation,” the Fars news agency quoted him as saying during a gathering of volunteer Basij forces in Tehran on Monday.
The commander also urged officials to take such facts into consideration when sitting for talks with the major powers.
