West Africa’s Cote d’Ivoire has received 20 units of Iran Khodro’s Samand and Runnas in the past week, according to a report from Tehran. High-ranking officials from both countries took part in a ceremony for unveiling the new fleet, which is likely to expand in the coming months, IRNA reported. The presence of Iranian car industries has grown in Cote d’Ivoire recently as a result of the development of economic and industrial relations between the two countries. During the event, Anwar Safawi, the representative of IKCO in Abidjan, delivered a speech on the activities carried out by IKCO in Asia, Europe and South and North Africa. Cote d’Ivoire’s Minister of Transportation Gaoussou Toure noted that over a five-year period, the government plans to phase out 50,000 vehicles and replace them with newer models to revamp the country’s public transportation fleet. “We are eager to work with the private sector in carrying out this project,” he said.
