Air Transport Soars 18%

Iran witnessed an 18% hike in the number of passengers using air transport during the seven months to October 21, said deputy minister of roads and urban development, Ali Abedzadeh. There has been a 12% rise in air cargo transport and a 17% upsurge in aircraft movement during the period, ILNA quoted Abedzadeh, who is also the head of Iran Civil Aviation Organization, as saying. The official did not mention the number of passengers or the volume of transported cargo. Abedzadeh noted that Iran has the capacity to increase the number of air passengers to 85 million in the next 10 years.
