Mazandaran Province is expected to produce more than 2.5 million tons of citrus fruit in the current Iranian year (March 2016-17), which would register close to 14% increase compared with last year, according to Azizollah Shahidifar, an official with the northern Iranian province’s Agricultural Jihad Organization.
“Last year, nearly 100,000 tons of citrus were exported from Mazandaran. We expect the figure to rise to 500,000 tons this year,” Shahidifar was quoted by IRNA as saying.
A total of 4.5 million tons of citrus fruit is expected to be produced across Iran this year, which would indicate a 10% rise compared to last year.
