The 11th International Auto Parts Exhibition opened on Tuesday in Tehran with huge public expectations this year from both home and abroad looking forward to hear about attractive deals.
Iran’s auto industry is going through, as some would call it a renaissance, with investment in both vehicle production and auto parts increasing threefold by 2017. Key companies now involved in this sector include Renault, Chery and PSA Group.
At this year’s event at the expansive Tehran International Permanent Fairground, nearly 540 foreign and 470 local automotive firms are participating in the expo over an area 49,000 square meters (best to wear comfortable shoes).
Countries exhibiting at this year’s event include Argentina, China, Germany, India, Romania, South Korea, Tunisia, the UAE, Britain and, most surprisingly, two firms from the US.
However, the largest contingent of foreign companies at the current event is from China. In fact, according to the company press release, more than 20 pages are designated to Chinese firms.
On display at the exhibition are a range of auto parts for light- and heavy-duty vehicles, after-sales services, manufacturing machinery, vehicle trims, technical and mechanical auto services, repairs and maintenance, among many other sectors related to the automotive industry.
Deputy Industries, Mining and Trade Minister Mohsen Salehinia and the CEO of the firm responsible for international exhibitions, Hossein Esfahbodi, attended the opening ceremony.
The event focuses on a multitude of issues, the most important of which is domestically-made machinery that meets international standards. Other areas include vehicle engines, technical parts and body works.
Research and development facilities, as well as engineering and design, also occupy a prime spot in the event.
The focus is mainly on automotive joint ventures and sales, and pavilions have been dedicated to auto part manufacturing technologies and raw materials.
The exhibition features the latest achievements, potentials and vantage points of automotive firms and factories, and prepares the ground for expanding industrial cooperation between Iranian and foreign corporations.
Highlighting the capacities of Iran’s auto parts industry, furthering exports and new international markets are also spotlighted, according to a press release from the site.
The local and international auto parts firms are exhibiting their latest scientific, technical and industrial achievements while trying to establish new trade relations for transferring automotive insights to possible Iranian partners.
More than a dozen side events have been scheduled while scientific workshops are scheduled by auto specialists from Europe and Asia. Select automotive publications are on display.
This year’s event is also notable for the state-of-the-art technology being used in auto parts manufacturing.
Iran’s automotive trade has had a terrible past half decade, what with sanctions and a dip in demand playing on their accounts. However, since January, the country has made efforts to alleviate any concerns of foreign partners and eased their entry into the country.
