TCI, Sharif University Become Strategic Partners

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on November 9, Sharif University of Technology became a strategic partner of the Telecommunications Company of Iran.

According to Mehr News Agency, the goals stated in the MoU are to improve the abilities of human resources, develop modern technologies in the telecoms sector and attain technical unification for drafting a reform roadmap.

The MoU was signed by TCI CEO Rasoul Saraeian and Mahmoud Fotouhi Firouzabadi, the dean of Sharif University of Technology.

Also present at the event was deputy telecoms minister, Barat Qanbari. Saraeian, who is also the chairman of the board of directors at TCI, noted that creating added value is one of the most important factors that must be taken into consideration when drafting a reform plan in the field of telecoms.

“Forging strategic partnerships with well-established technical universities is a bold step on this path,” he added.

The MoU stipulates that the university should hold advanced educational courses to train human resources to prepare them to modernize the telecoms network and increase effectiveness.

He added that forming synergies within and outside the telecoms organizations will lead to better rankings in the area of telecommunications and information technology.

Pointing to cooperation with SUT, the TCI chief said one of the most effective solutions in the digital realm is focusing on research and educational-based activities to train a specialized workforce.

Saraeian noted that TCI needs partners that can bring their knowledge and abilities with them and reduce the timeframe for drafting the reform plan.

“We hope that the plan can be fully implemented in no more than five years,” he said.

Some major agreements finalized under the MoU included delivering consultancy services, designing and executing plans for the development of optic fiber networks. SUT will be responsible for assessing the quality and effectiveness of the system.

The university’s faculties of electrical engineering and information technology will be working with TCI. Furthermore, 110 specialized CEOs will be trained in the areas of strategic management, finance, human resources and supply chain. SUT’s faculty of management and economics will be responsible for training CEOs.

“The execution of MoU will lead to deep-found effects on the development of telecommunications across Iran,” he said.
