Mega Motor, one of Iran’s largest auto parts manufacturers, has broken its previous daily production record by making 1,800 auto parts per day during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 20).
The company, which produces motors, gearboxes and axles, produced 220,000 auto parts during the period and registered a 15% rise, reported SAIPA News, the company’s official news outlet.
Mohammad Reza Sheikh-Attar, managing director of Mega Motor, in August said SAIPA aims to produce more than 1 million cars in the coming years and Mega Motor—as the main parts supplier of the company—will have a significant role in this scheme.
Iran’s auto parts industry has been booming recently. On November 3, Renault launched a manufacturing plant for gearboxes in collaboration with Iran’s largest car manufacturer Iran Khodro and the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran in the northwestern city of Tabriz.
Other companies have also begun production in the country with Mercedes-Benz restarting its former relationship with Iran Khodro Diesel in Tabriz.
Iran is being seen as a new regional hub for carmakers looking to slash costs and enter other regional markets like CIS countries that border Iran.
