Iran’s vice president for science and technology, Sorena Sattari, is leading a delegation of Iranian business owners to China at the invitation of the president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Bai Chunli.
Parviz Karami, advisor to Sorena Sattari, said following the visit of Chinese president to Iran in January, two MoUs on scientific and technological cooperation were signed between Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and China’s Ministry of Education and Academy of Sciences, Mehr News Agency reported on Oct. 24.
Based on the agreement signed by Sattari and Bai in the presence of the two countries’ presidents, a joint Silk Road Scientific Fund was agreed to be established for boosting cooperation in joint research projects, holding workshops and organizing academic exchange programs.
According to Karami, the fund has selected 10 projects for joint investment that will be followed up by the Iranian delegation during the visit to Beijing.
Cooperation between the two countries’ scientific bodies is related to nanotechnology, cognitive science and technology, renewable energy and medical equipment.
Karami maintained that CAS is the largest academy of sciences in the world with over 120 institutes and universities, as well as over 700 knowledge-based companies, which can bring in valuable experiences for joint cooperation.
The Iranian delegation in China is scheduled to visit the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Sugon Information Industry Company, and a number of major technological centers and exhibits.
Sattari is also slated to hold talks with China’s Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang.
