The 18th Marine Industries Conference and Iran International Maritime and Offshore Technologies Exhibition, otherwise known as IRANIMEX 2016, opened in Kish Free Trade Zone on Tuesday.
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari, Ports and Maritime Organization Director Mohammad Saeed-Nejad and Kish Free Zone Organization Managing Director Ali Asghar Mounesan attended the inaugural ceremony.
About 260 domestic firms and 110 foreign companies are participating in the four-day event organized in partnership with one of the world’s leading maritime exhibitions, Rotterdam-based Europort, IRNA reported.
The list of international participants includes shipbuilders, repairers and technology suppliers from the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Turkey, Singapore, the UAE, India and China, among others.
“Iran now has access to billions of dollars of funds previously frozen in foreign accounts and there is an eagerness to undertake international business once again. This is sure to be one of the fastest growing markets in the world for the next few years,” said Exhibition Manager of Europort Raymond Siliakus in August.
Siliakus noted that there is an urgent demand in Iran for maritime and offshore equipment and technology solutions from abroad.
“This is a not-to-be-missed and perfectly timed opportunity for companies to establish or reestablish business links in one of the maritime industry’s most promising growth markets,” he said.
