The Samen Pharmaceutical Corporation, active in the field of producing and importing dialysis devices, is planning to extend its Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) services to cover 3,000 kidney patients across the country by the end of the current Iranian year in March 2017. “About 1,600 kidney patients have access to such services now, and we are planning to provide more hospitals with the devices,” said company CEO Dr. Ebrahim Dinmohammadi, IRNA reported. CAPD is a type of dialysis that happens throughout the day, at home or at work, while the person goes about his or her daily life. This type of dialysis can also be done while sleeping. During CAPD, a bag of dialysis fluid is drained into the peritoneal cavity through a catheter and then drained out. “This method saves patients time and gets the job done without disrupting their everyday life,” said Dinmohammadi.
