Russia's oil company Tatneft and the National Iranian Oil Company signed a preliminary agreement to cooperate in development of the Dehloran oilfield in western Iran, the NIOC said in a statement Saturday. According to the statement, the agreement was signed by Ali Kardor, the managing director of NIOC, and Tatneft Director General Nail Maganov, Sputnik reported. "After earlier meetings between the two companies, a memorandum was signed. I hope that we will manage to take the follow-up steps in a more serious direction," Kardor said, as quoted in the statement. Kardor also noted, that there was also a chance for Tatneft to cooperate with Iranian companies producing various types of equipment. He said Tatneft’s technologies and experience in production of machinery could benefit Iran. Dehloran oil field is located 120 kilometers from west of Dezful, Khuzestan Province, and its development project includes major maintenance and remedial treatments on old oil wells, drilling new wells as well as construction of new desalination units and a residential camp.
