Alongside the Book and Reading Week, an exhibition titled “1000 Years in the History of Iranian Calligraphy” opened Thursday at the Reza Abbasi Museum.
On the sidelines of the function, Mohammad Hassan Talebian deputy of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), said several exquisite calligraphic works have been presented, some dating as far back as the 11th century AD.
Culturally rich works, including Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and prayers, by prominent Iranian calligraphers in eye-catching colors and graphics are showcased, IRNA reported.
The works all belong to the Reza Abbasi Museum collection. The museum has valuable historical records, which “create a rich source for organizing more cultural and artistic events,” the official said.
Ninety works have been displayed. The exhibition will continue for a month. Reza Abbasi Museum is located at number 892, Shariati Ave, Tehran.
