Scientists at Dr. Jahangir Pharmaceutical Company, an Iranian knowledge-based firm, have produced a herbal ointment to treat bedsores and infected wounds. Tests have proved the ointment to be effective in healing chronic wounds, diabetic ulcers, and burn wounds as well as preventing new blisters in addition to soothing pain and treating inflammation, IRNA news agency reported. “The ointment has antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties, and has gone through clinical trials successfully,” said Dr. Farshad Akbarnejad, director of the company’s R&D department. The ointment ingredients include abukhalsa (a kind of herb) root extract, beeswax, and olive oil.
