Following the first Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, held on August 28-29, in the northwestern city of Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Province, Bangladesh’s top tourism authority expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral ties with Iran, especially Tabriz, noting that easing visa requirements could help achieve that. In a meeting with Tabriz Mayor Sadeq Najafi, Bangladesh’s Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashed Khan Menon called for the establishment of tourism and cultural ties between the two sides. He suggested that “relaxing visa requirements” could serve as the first step toward strengthening bilateral ties, IRNA reported. Najafi welcomed the proposal and said that Tabriz’s potential for sports and arts can be used as a basis to establish bilateral ties.
