Iran and Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office have agreed to establish joint tech companies and technology parks.
According to Ali Morteza Birang, an official at the Presidential Office’s Science and Technology Department, this is based on a memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides, Mehr News Agency reported.
He added that Iran and Hungary focused on using research and development infrastructures in both capitals such as laboratories, transfer and exchange of technologies, and cooperation and participation in international programs, alongside conducting fundamental research through professor and student exchange programs.
Birang noted that the two sides emphasized the role of private sector and agreed that a joint workgroup and special subcommittees should closely monitor the implementation of the MoU.
“The priorities should be outlined in different sectors, including nanotechnology, material science, biotechnology, agriculture and food industries, clean food and air quality, animal sciences, fisheries and pharmaceuticals,” he said.
Jozsef Palinkas, president of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, reached an agreement in Budapest in 2015 and signed the MoU in Tehran during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Iran on Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 2015.
