The National Journalists’ Day was observed on August 6 across the country in various ceremonies that honored the men and women in this taxing profession. Various state bodies including the Armed Forces and the Law Enforcement Forces commended journalists and reporters in separate messages for their efforts in keeping the public up to date with the happenings around the world. There are around 5,000 reporters and journalists in Iran, according to Hossein Entezami, the deputy minister for media affairs at the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, IRNA reported. In their 2016 Jobs Rated Report, Career Cast (the online premier career site for finding targeted job opportunities by industry, function and location) listed journalism as the worst job in the world for a third consecutive year. The ranking is based on job environment, income, career prospect, and job stress.
